RECKLI GmbH, a seasoned company in the field of architecture specializing in plastic molds for exposed concrete, employs around 130 staff at its headquarters in Herne (Germany) and operates five production sites worldwide. As a company increasingly focused on sustainability, RECKLI faced the statutory reporting obligation to meet the requirements of the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and the associated Double Materiality Analysis. To address this, RECKLI relied on the software from Code Gaia, which made the process transparent and efficient while saving valuable time through its intuitive usability.
BACKGROUND
Sustainability at Reckli
RECKLI GmbH has long been deeply engaged with the sustainability aspects of critical building materials such as concrete and plastics—driven by both social responsibility and economic necessity. Sustainability requirements are of central importance to RECKLI, and the management was determined to address these new obligations strategically and pragmatically.
In collaboration with its larger sister company, Rodenberg AG, a producer of door panels, RECKLI consolidated data across the complex corporate structure to ensure comprehensive reporting. A key priority for RECKLI was to make the process manageable and not overwhelming—a challenge that Code Gaia successfully addressed. By making the entire process more tangible and easier to implement, Code Gaia helped RECKLI navigate the path to sustainability reporting with confidence.

The Code Gaia module is remarkably clear and intuitive. I would argue that anyone who has ever booked something online or completed a survey will immediately feel at home with this software.

CODE GAIA’S SOLUTION
Challenges and Requirements
The challenges for RECKLI lay in understanding and efficiently implementing the complex requirements of the double materiality analysis. As a medium-sized company without a dedicated sustainability department and with limited resources, RECKLI sought a method to help identify relevant stakeholders, key risks, and opportunities and present them in a consolidated report.
Collaboration with Code Gaia
To master this process, RECKLI began implementing the double materiality analysis with the help of Code Gaia in January. Code Gaia provided support through a combination of practical workshops and a comprehensive software solution, enabling RECKLI to conduct the process transparently and efficiently. The software is designed to allow step-by-step processing and documentation while meeting all CSRD requirements.

I really appreciate that these workshops don’t just bombard you with theory and then leave you to figure things out on your own. Instead, they provide a clear guide and direct support throughout the process. This brought us a lot of clarity and made the entire workflow much simpler.

PROCESS
Implementation process
At the beginning of the collaboration, Code Gaia worked with RECKLI to conduct a stakeholder analysis to identify and systematically evaluate the key stakeholder groups. Through targeted workshops, RECKLI was empowered to pinpoint relevant stakeholders and address them effectively. Following this, further steps were taken to identify significant impacts as well as financial risks and opportunities.
During the process, RECKLI also discovered new perspectives and opportunities, such as diversifying product applications and assessing the potential effects of changes in the construction industry on its business.
Results and insights
Insights from the positive collaboration between RECKLI and Code Gaia
With the help of workshops and a structured software solution, RECKLI was able to conduct a comprehensive stakeholder analysis that included all relevant groups and their feedback. The user-friendly software facilitated data collection and analysis, helping to identify risks, such as a potential reduction in concrete usage in architectural projects, which had not been a focus previously. This opened up valuable opportunities for diversification. Additionally, the Code Gaia software reduced administrative effort through the automation of many processes, simplified reporting, and ensured a consistent, long-term implementation of the double materiality analysis.
CONCLUSION
The close collaboration with Code Gaia helped RECKLI successfully tackle the challenges of the double materiality analysis and position itself for the future. Code Gaia’s structured and supportive approach, combining consulting and software solutions, enabled RECKLI not only to meet regulatory requirements but also to identify new opportunities and strategically advance its sustainability initiatives.
